Etymology: the new species is named after Prof. Huang Jiaqi (13 April 1941-3 May 2022) of the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Xiamen University, in commemoration of his outstanding contributions to marine planktology in China.
Ecology: a warm-water, epipelagic marine species, occurring mainly in summer and autumn.
