Species Acartia (Acartiura) simplex - Plate 1 of morphological figuresissued from : J.M. Bradford in N.Z. J. Mar. Freshw. Res., 1976, 10 (1). [p.187, 188, Figs.23, 24].
Female (from New Zealand): 1a, habitus (dorsal view); 1b, idem (lateral view); 1c-d, P5; 2a-c, genital segment (dorsal view); 2d-f, idem (lateral view).

Species Acartia (Acartiura) simplex - Plate 2 of morphological figuresissued from : J.M. Bradford in N.Z. J. Mar. Freshw. Res., 1976, 10 (1). [p.189, Fig.25].
Male (from New Zealand): a, habitus (lateral view); b, idem (dorsal view); c, posterior metasome in left lateral view); d, anterior surface of right P5 exopod segment 2; e, terminal segment of left P5; f, posterior surface of P5. From the lagoon on Chatham Islands (New Zealand).
Rem: P5 = fifth leg

Species Acartia (Acartiura) simplex - Plate 3 of morphological figuresissued from : J.M. Bradford-Grieve in The Marine Fauna of New Zealand: Pelagic Calanoid Copepoda. National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA). NIWA Biodiversity Memoir, 111, 1999. [p.224, Fig.166].
Female: A, habitus (dorsal); B, urosome (right lateral side); C, urosome (dorsal).

Male: D, habitus (dorsal); E, urosome (dorsal); F, urosome (left side); G, P5.

Nota: The specimens differ from the Bradford's (1976) description in the degree of ornementation on the urosome of both sexes. A close examination of variability in the species is required.
