Johnson, 1936 (p.65, figs.F,M); Sewell, 1948 (p.558, 563); Brodsky, 1950 (1967) (p.387, figs.F,M); Shih & al., 1971 (p.144); Gardner & Szabo, 1982 (p.384, figs.F,M) | issued from : M.W. Johnson in Bull. Scripps. Instn. Oceanogr., tech. Ser., 1936, 4 (2). [p.67, Fig.A, 1-3]. Female (from 49°20'N, 174°31'W): 1-2, habitus (lateral and dorsal, respectively). Nota: The surface of the body and appendages covered with short spinules. Rostrum with 2 heavy, widely separated, and diverging prongs, not visible dorsally, Labrum very large and armed with a posterior tuft of short rigid spinules; Urosome very short, about 1/4 and 1/5 the length of prosome; Genital segment about as long as the 2 abdominal segments combined; Caudal rami about equal in length to the anal segment, A1 24-segmented, extending to about the middle of the 3rd thoracic segment; Male: forehead (lateral). Nota: Body covered with short spinules as in female; Urosome 5-segmented. A1 reaching nearly to end of 5th thoracic segment. Left A1 geniculated near the end.

issued from : M.W. Johnson in Bull. Scripps. Instn. Oceanogr., tech. Ser., 1936, 4 (2). [p.69, Fig.C]. Female: 1, A2; 2, Md; 3, right Mxp; 4, Mx1; 5, P1; 6, P5. Nota: Exopod of A2 with 7 segments which do not reach to the distal ebnd of the endopod. Male: P5. Nota: Mouthparts as in female. P1 as in female but with an indistinct line suggesting an imperfect division of the 2nd endopod segment; P5 asymmetrical.

Distribution map of Centraugaptilus porcellus by geographical zones
|
| | | | | | Loc: | | | Pacif. central (subarct.), Strait of Georgie, off Japan (in Furuhashi, 1965, p.23), China Seas (South China Sea), E Taiwan | | | N: | 7 | | | Lg.: | | | (1027) F: 6,2-6; M: 5,75; {F: 6,00-6,20; M: 5,75} | | | Rem.: | abyssopelagic. For M.W. Johnson (1936, p.66) two California species described by Esterly (1911) under the names Augaptilus macrodus and A. lucidus evidently belong to the genus Centaugaptilus, and are closely allied species, but are distinguished from C. porcellus by the size and shape of body, the 3-segmented endopods, the irregular margin of the 5th thoracic segment, and the relatively short A1. | | | Last update : 31/12/2014 | |
