Nota: Head and 1st thoracic segment separate, 4th and 5th fused.Geniatal segment twice the length of succeeding 2 segments combined, protruded ventrally. A1 exceeds furca by last 2 segments.

meso-bathypelagic. Recorded in a vertical haul from 1000 to 500 m (Matthews, 1972). In vertical tow 4000-3000 m (Harding, 1974). The species resembles E. maxillaris Sars (1924), but is easily distinguished from it.
